Thiruvenkadu Temple History in Tamil Tradition
In Tamil literature, Thiruvenkadu is called Swethaaranyam, meaning White Forest. The temple is sung in Thevaram hymns by saints Appar, Sundarar, and Thirugnanasambandar.
Legends say that Budhan Graha (Mercury) performed penance here and was blessed by Lord Shiva. The temple is also believed to be the site where Shiva performed his Rudra Thandavam, the cosmic dance of destruction and renewal.
For centuries, devotees in Tamil Nadu have believed that worshipping at this temple removes Budhan dosha, sharpens intellect, and grants eloquence.
Thiruvengadu Kovil Kumbabhishekam
The temple has seen many kumbabhishekam ceremonies, each conducted with Tamil Agama rituals and Vedic chants. These events recharge the spiritual energy of the shrine and draw thousands of devotees.
